Thailand for Young & Adventurous

Thailand_for_Young__Adventurous-3

If you’re looking for a place to go where there are non-stop challenges and learning experiences, then you’ve picked up the right booklet. Aland a-plenty with great outdoor activities complemented with the best entertainment and shopping, you just can’t go wrong here. Thailand, the ultimate destination for absolute adventures and exploration.

Thailand has fantastic landscapes such as the petrified forests in Northeast Thailand where bizarre stone outcrops abound with ancient pre-historic paintings by hunter
gatherers dated as far back as 3,000 years. Also visit the country’s former capitals that date as far back as the 13th century. Thailand’s capital cities started in the northern central plains in Lop Buri, to Sukhothai, then to Phra Nakhon SiAyutthaya and finally to the present location in Bangkok, located on the Chao Phraya River mouth right next to the Gulf of Thailand. The ambience and architecture of each former capital is very distinct from one another which makes for unique historical experiences.

Thailand is also home to great cultural experiences and opportunities for home stays where one can experience the rustic day-to-day living of local villages and hill tribes. The more popular tribal experiences are with the Mon tribes in western Thailand and the Lisu up north.

Best of all, when in Thailand why not try your hands at learning how to steer elephants (mahout training), how to cook Thai food and study traditional Thai dance. There are great schools that offer full board for classes in traditional Thai cooking and dance, as well as massage and meditation. Of course there are also schools for Thai boxing, probably the country’s most famous sport, which is an art in itself.

As you can see, you just haven’t lived until you come to Thailand. Everything that you’ve ever dreamed of for the greatest adventure of a lifetime whether cultural, historical or sports, is available here. Just reading through this book will get your blood pumping. Let’s get started folks!

Before Embarking on Your Adventure to Thailand Before embarking on your journey to Thailand, it might be best to check with your international clubs and associations within your university or school to start establishing ties with a friend your age in Thailand. Having a friendly contact in Thailand before you arrive is a good idea as you have someone to look forward to meet. Such clubs as Rotary International www.rotary.org and Skal Club www.skal.org would normally have worldwide presence in all educational institutions.

Being in touch with these types of organizations well ahead of your intended trip gives you the opportunity to exchange thoughts with someone your age, as well as ensure that you have a group of friends even before you arrive, making your trip to Thailand even more memorable.

Another good idea is to be in touch with the various international language centres in your country that are affiliated with a school in Thailand such as the British Council, AUA(American Alumni Association), Goethe Institute, etc. These language centres are ideal for you to be associated with as they are usually a hub for young people around the world to learn a foreign language and this means the opportunity to make even more friends.

Also visit the Federation of International Youth Travel Organisations (FIYTO) www.fiyto.org  website for travel ideas as well as a listing of accommodation inThailand. Visiting your local YMCA (Young Men’s Christian Association) www.ymca.int  and YWCA (Young Women’s Christian Association) http://worldywca1.org is also a good idea in order to get information concerning their location in Thailand and the type of accommodation and support provided.

Before starting your travels to Thailand, it may also be a good idea to drop by at a Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) office closest to you or, visit www.tourismthailand.org   for more information.
